Calling all aspiring Manga and Webcomic Artists, Writers and Fans!!
The Global Manga Initiative is throwing open its doors and looking to grant completely free, quality exposure, networking and promotion to passionate Manga-creatives from all over the world!! We're looking to connect and feature some of the greatest rising talents from around the world WITHOUT forcing them to sacrifice their creative or publishing rights in the process.
Your Work. Your Way.
WHO WE ARE
We are the Global Manga Initiative, a collective enterprise of Artists, Writers and other talent who dedicate our lives to our creative ambitions.
WHAT WE DO
We make Manga. Manga from around the world, specifically. It is our goal to give rising-creators from every corner of the globe a shot to convey their work and show us what they define as Manga. We offer free, quality exposure/promotion to dedicated talent, and connect like-minded Artists, Writers and assistants of all skill levels with one another to help their work and creative passions thrive.
Whether a person is young or old, skilled or a newbie, trendy or original, halfway around the planet or in our own backyard, so long as you have a passion for Manga, Webcomics or whatever it is you wanna call it, G.M.I. has a place for you.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
• Completely free, quality exposure on a secure, dedicated and funded website.
• Full creative and publishing control of your work.
• Having your series featured alongside some of the best in our online Manga Anthology.
• In-House Networking to help you form the creative team that’s right for you.
• Feedback and guidance to help your work be the best it can be.
The response to this project has been tremendous and magnificent. Already the G.M.I. Project has attracted the interest and excitement of over THIRTY exceptionally-talented artists, writers and designers from every corner of the globe. From the United Kingdom to Australia, Brazil to France, China to Spain, the Philippines to America, and almost every spot in-between, enthusiastic creators of all ages and backgrounds continue to pour-in to voice their love of Manga, Comics and Storytelling.
Up above, we have a sample of the potential talent-pool for G.M.I., featuring artists from all corners of the planet, united in their success.
Let's take a look at who some of these artists are, and the tales they bring with them.
Elias Chaikhaoui -
Head artist of the Manga-group "STUD-YO!" and the up-and-coming Shonen-artist behind the series "Faucheur," Elias prides himself on his ability to create intense art for action-packed series and brings his ambition to the frontline of the G.M.I. Project.
Morganne Walker -
The tough veteran of the "Cooking Wars", Morganne is the jazzy mind behind "Dante's Disco Inferno", the funky Manga about one Dante Alfonse, the disco dancer who battles against (and sometimes dances with) the demonic forces out to claim his soul. Will he have what it takes to ascend to the celestial club of disco legend!?
Maximo V. Lorenzo -
Bursting on the scene like a fist to the jaw is Maximo, an artists with a original "grit-n-guts" style for creating comics. Maximo's right-hand series is "ONE HIT KNOCK OUT!", which follows Serge Diapason in his dream to become a legendary hero, and recover his grandfather's mysterious Bit Glove from his rival William.
Midorikawa Tsuyoshi -
The insanely-talented hunter of dreams, versed in a huge salvo of Manga-styles, Midorikawa is responsible for several series, including "-FIREFLY-" the post-apocalyptic story of Ethan Frost, the fantastical "-DREAM-", the bittersweet "-PORTRAIT-", "-THE HIDDEN-" the story of three childhood friends and genie, and much more! Is there anything she can't do!?
Salvatore Nives -
Bringing his fantastically sweeping style to G.M.I., Salvatore's passion for telling fables emerges in the mysterious "Enigma" and the epic adventures of the "Allegra Brigata." Whether it be tales of swordplay and airships, or more heart-filled dramas, Salvatore's work is quite exceptional.
Blaze 45 -
Focusing on the heat of the ring, Blaze 45 arrives! Known best for his epic work "XXX Counter" which follows the intense battles of the aspiring boxer Ayumi and her friendly rivals, Blaze has a real talent for writing intense and well-paced matches between likeable characters.
Dave Enbey -
Creator of "Young", which follows the titular character in his struggle to see humanity through the outbreak of a strange new virus. Dave has a talent for creating epic sci-fi worlds and hauntingly surreal landscapes, a talent he employs with great skill in the futuristic world of "Young."
She may not be a morning person, but Newsha (or Sparky, as she's more commonly known) has created some of the most imaginative combinations of Manga, Painting and Storybook styles that I have ever seen. Her works, such as "Lullaby" and the recent "Prologue," are a hauntingly beautiful tales that would fit right in with both Manga and classical Grim Fairytales.
Kim Samson -
She. HATES. Viruses! Oh, and she also has an extremely long-running series known as "Maq 041", which follows the sometimes-action-packed, sometimes-romantic, sometimes-just plain silly adventures of Maquellan "Maqqy" Koaloff as she struggles to regain some sembelance of a normal life while battling a mysterious organization of genetic supersoldiers. Oh, and she also has a robot arm. Mole alone is reason enough to read it.
Other contributors to this piece include,
Kuros Angel -
Beautiful Paranoia -
Noxid Assylem -
The current potential G.M.I. Roster also includes,
And many, MANY more!
~NOTE: Mucho apologies if I have misrepresented anyone, or left anyone out amidst all the Notes, emails, signatures and HTML coding. If you feel it necessary, send me a Note and I'll do my best to correct the situation.~
WHAT WE'VE DONE
We've already helped organize artists and writers from around the world who are presently working hard prepare series for the anthology itself. You may have spotted us at New York Comic-Con/Anime Festival 2011, where we managed to both promote our Talent Roster and attract many interested attendees. We plan to expand into a regular publishing franchise as we progress with this enterprise.
Special thanks also go out to our awesome featured band "Akebi" for allowing us to demo their music at the convention, and Tsuyoshi Midorikawa for hooking us up in the first place. The songs performed were "Lonely" and "Aitakute", which was especially popular with the crowds. You can check out the video for "Aitakute" below:
A very sincere thank you to our friends at the Anders Larson-Toich Foundation for their help and support. Please visit and donate to their website below; it's for a seriously good cause:
Of course, a special shout-out to our friends at Geek Fire Gifts for sharing and helping us run the table. If you happen to need the perfect gift for the geek in your life, we highly recommend you check out their website below:
We are presently gearing up to launch our Official Website www.gmimanga.com, where all the featured series on G.M.I. can be read by everyone. Once our Launching Roster is ready to roll-out, the site will officially launch.
